General Manager, Port City Deals Wilmington
One seat. UNCW student. Paid. Selected, not hired.
Port City Deals makes money two ways. Wilmington locals pay $20 a year for unlimited discounts at 36+ local spots (coffee, food, bars, fitness, nails, and more). And clubs, teams, and local groups raise money on our fundraising platform, and we take a platform fee on every dollar raised. Both are live. Both are early. The fundraising side is already outpacing memberships at App State, where I built the original.
Wilmington needs someone on the ground who is tapped in. Someone on campus, in the rooms, with the relationships. So I'm opening one General Manager seat and giving that person the operation to run as their own business, with me as their partner in growing it.
What the GM runs
- Fundraising. Getting clubs, teams, and local groups raising money on the platform. You meet them, you close them. This is where the money is.
- Merchants. Signing new local businesses onto the pass. You pitch, you close.
- Employers. Selling the membership to Wilmington companies as a staff perk.
- UNCW. Helping land a campus wide deal with the school.
- The team. Recruiting and running a crew of student ambassadors, and directing our VA and our content.
- The numbers. Weekly. You own them and you make the calls.
What comes with the seat
- The title. General Manager, Port City Deals Wilmington. On LinkedIn, on your card, in every room you walk into.
- Internship credit if your program approves it.
- Direct work with a founder who has built this once already.
How you get paid
- A monthly stipend.
- $5 for every paid member you bring in.
- A cut of every fundraiser you bring onto the platform.
- A cut of every business deal you close.
- Cash bonuses at milestones.
Who gets approved
This is selective and I'll be honest about the bar. I want ambitious, confident, and proven. You've run your own business, done in person or door to door sales, or built and led something real like a team, a chapter, a club, or a brand. You can walk into a restaurant, ask for the owner, and ask for the yes. You'd rather run something than be handed a task list. You know Wilmington, not just campus, and you have a car. Junior or sophomore preferred, because I want two years with you. Any major. Results matter, not your transcript.
If you've never sold anything or built anything, this isn't for you. If you have, this is the most real thing you'll do in college.
